Chemo-dynamical evolution of galaxies

The chemical composition of galaxies encodes important information about structure formation in the Universe.  By using cosmological simulations of galaxy formation, our group is studying the relations between the chemical abundances and dynamical properties of these systems at different cosmic times.  Our goal is to understand the role of such relations as tracers of the formation pathways of observed galaxies in the real Universe.

Dust emission from the Early Universe

With the advent of next-generation observational facilities operating at different wavelengths, the exploration of the early Universe is entering a golden age. Future space-borne FIR telescopes could play a crucial role on the exploration of the nature and properties of the first dust-emitting galaxies at the very dawn of star formation.  In collaboration with researchers from the University of Texas at Austin, we are developing theoretical models to evaluate the role of primeval galaxies as FIR/sub-mm sources.
